I'll start by saying I know nothing about powerlifting.
But what I do know about is staying consistent with strength training (without spending a ton of time at the gym).
Here's a real life example from my weekend:
I had a lift on my plan.
But I knew driving to the gym wouldn't be a good use of my time as a dad and husband.
My son goes down for his nap at 9 am and my wife had a call with a potential new doula client at the same time.
Could I have forced a 90+ minute round trip gym production before or after that time slot?
Probably.
But it was Sunday and I wanted to hang with my wife and kid.
So I decided to find a new solution.
9am rolled around and I got the kiddo down, kicked aside baby blocks and dog toys, grabbed my 45lb adjustable dumbbells and started lifting.
I was interrupted a few times to go help my son retrieve a fallen binky (and actually start napping). But those 30 second interruptions actually served as a good rest period between sets.
So here's the lesson:
Don't skip the 25 minute lift because the 60 minute lift can't happen.
