Last week, an athlete inside Tribal was struggling...
He had planned to start his run at 6:15 a.m.
He woke up early. Made his coffee. Had time to spare.
But then his morning started to unravel…
He made a second cup of coffee
Then sat on the living room floor to stretch
Then thought: “I might as well check my work email”
And the snowball continued…
He replied to a few emails
Then he checked his work calendar
Then - without realizing it - he was fully working
And guess what?
An hour vanished. Just like that.
By then his kids were up. His wife needed help.
His run? Didn’t happen…
He started the day on defense.
That story reminded me of another Tribal athlete — someone at an earlier stage of his journey.
Right now, he’s waking up to his son and going straight into work mode:
Feed the kiddo
Rush mom out the door for daycare drop off
Open his work lap top 45 seconds before his first meeting
No breath. No buffer. No clarity.
And I’ve been there too…
How I Got Out Of The Spiral
Back when I first started endurance training — when I first started taking ownership of my life — I anchored my mornings to one simple habit:
The Daily Stoic
Every morning for 2+ years, I started my day by reading a short passage and writing my reflections.
I didn’t let myself touch my phone until I was finished.
It was simple. But it was sacred. And it helped me start the day with intention - not input.
Since then, my process has evolved into something bigger:
Bible passages
Creative writing
Bodyweight tracking
Daily workout planning
Reflections on yesterday’s wins and lessons
Mapping goals across family, fitness, and business
Documenting long-term projects and updating progress
It’s become my system for showing up — on purpose — every single day.
It’s become my anchor.
So I Built A Blueprint
At our Team House during the Elephant Mountain 50 earlier this year, I noticed something:
Even high-performing guys — smart, successful, driven — were still starting their day by drifting toward their phone.
Emails. News. Notifications. Distraction.
No movement
No intention
No clarity
That’s when I realized: I needed to give my athletes a better tool.
Something simple. Something clear.
A template to help them build momentum every day.
That’s how the Run. Write. Build. Daily Blueprint was born.
It’s the exact system I use now — and it’s become the heartbeat of how I lead myself and coach others.
This past month, I’ve been testing it inside Tribal.
The response? 🔥🔥🔥
And now I want to share it with you.
If your mornings feel chaotic…
If you’ve been drifting instead of leading…
If you want to operate with clarity, momentum, and purpose…
This is for you.

This is the starting point for everything else we’re building inside Tribal.
And speaking of that…
Big changes are happening.
The next evolution is here.
I’ll tell you about it all next week.
