So many guys lack confidence in life because they lost their identity as an athlete when they stopped playing sports in HS or College.
That’s why when someone joins Tribal, I want them to feel like a pro.
on a team
wearing the best gear
structured training toward a competition
But there’s a bigger, better feeling I want them to tap into too…
I want them to feel like superheroes.
Seeing Yourself As A Hero
If you listened to the podcast we did on Creating Your Own Legend In The Tribal Training Mythology, you know we make an intentional effort to help Tribal athletes see their own Hero’s Journey happening in real time.
Here’s the simplified arc of the Hero’s Journey:
answer “The Call” (sign up for a 70.3 or Ironman and join Tribal)
endure trials, overcome obstacles and learn lessons through experience
bring new knowledge back to your Tribe (your own family) so everyone (wife, kids, etc.) can benefit from your courage
This is how guys become better fathers, husbands and leaders through sport.
But it all hangs in the balance of one thing…
How we see ourselves.
So when I was thinking of how to commemorate Tribal athletes who did our Team Race at Chattanooga 70.3, I wanted to give them a crystal clear image of just how powerful they are.
Here’s what came to life…
The Adventures of Tribal Training
I used our personalized race photos that my content guy Charlie captured on race day and created The Adventures of Tribal Training, the first Team Comic.
Check it out:
The cover includes our team finishing pic, a photo of my dad, my brother and me on the Tribal Bridge and a photo of me coaching.
I also brought two more comics to life that immortalized every individual athlete with a caption of either something they said to me during the race (or something that captures their race day energy).
These were sent out to athletes on 8x10 matte card stock for them to display proudly in their pain caves or home offices.
You can check out a behind the scenes video I posted to Twitter here.
Same Excuses, Different Attitude
Every one of these guys had every excuse NOT to take on a challenge like Chattanooga 70.3…
busy job
young kids
limited free time
Some didn’t own a bike and lacked fitness at the start of their journey…
But guess what? They didn’t give in to any of it.
They didn’t settle. They showed up, for themselves and their families.
The result?
They became superheroes in real life.
We are running it back at Chattanooga 70.3 in May 2025.
If you want to be a part of this… it’s not too late.
The comic is so fun! What software did you use? And we love Chattanooga 70.3. Done it 3 times.
Thanks! I hired a designer for this
