Last week, I had an awesome experience leading a Run. Write. Build. workshop for a group of CEOs just outside LA.
The LA Vistage Group wanted to shake things up for their monthly meeting — to do something different than the standard board meeting...
So we hit the trails at sunrise. Then hit the boardroom — reflecting, writing, and realigning with our highest selves.
And in between, the experience delivered what it always does when you lean in:
Intention. Clarity. Perspective.
Here are 3 takeaways that came to life for our group:
1. Just because it’s hard now doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way.
The trail flattens out — keep going.
2. You can recover in motion.
Keep moving. You don’t need to stand still to catch your breath.
3. The leap of faith is the hardest part.
The rest of the journey? Dude - you got this!!!
Whether it’s a 50-mile ultra or a sunrise trail run followed by a writing session, I keep learning the same thing:
The trail is a mirror.
And the Run. Write. Build. framework lets the lessons echo far beyond just a good sweat.
If you’re building something bold — in business, family, or life:
Challenge yourself physically
Write out your internal experience
Build yourself up with the truth of your success
This is how we win.
Transcendence. I thought you were a half Ironman coach 😝
No one puts Coach in a box
That’s wisdom we can all learn from!
